Former QUEENSRŸCHE frontman Geoff Tate has described himself as a "libertarian" who believes in socialism. The Seattle-based singer, who has pursued a solo career since exiting QUEENSRŸCHE seven years ago, discussed his political persuasion during a new interview with Greece's "TV War". He said: "Some people, like I'll do an interview, and they'll ask me about politics. And after I give my opinions on it, people perhaps will find themselves in complete opposition to me, because they're ultra-conservative. And I don't know how they got the idea that I was ultra-conservative [laughs], 'cause I'm absolutely not. I'm a libertarian, lefty loosey person. I believe in socialism and social health care. And I'm for the people — I'm not for the rich people. And I don't know how people got that idea. Maybe QUEENSRŸCHE, the name — I don't know. Maybe they thought it was a fascist sort of thing. And it's absolutely the other way around."Back in late 2017, Tate said that Donald Trump will probably go down as "the worst president" in U.S. history. His comments came two years after he said that he didn't think then-candidate Trump was "presidential material." "He hasn't really got a physical plan on all the issues," he explained. "It's all about promoting The Donald and kind of furthering his name and legacy more than focusing on what's good for the country."For most of 2018 and the first couple of months of 2019, Tate has celebrated the 30th anniversary of QUEENSRŸCHE's "Operation: Mindcrime" by playing the iconic concept album live in its entirety. The "Mindcrime" live set covers all 15 songs from the album including such fan favorites as "Revolution Calling", "Operation: Mindcrime", "I Don't Believe In Love" and the closing track, "Eyes Of A Stranger". Tate's post QUEENSRŸCHE band OPERATION: MINDCRIME has released three albums over three years as part of a trilogy: "The Key" (September 2015), "Resurrection" (September 2016) and "The New Reality" (December 2017).
